International Identity Day

25 November 2024

On Thursday, October 17, 2024, our subsidiary, Semlex Ivory Coast, had the honor of participating in the International Identity Day, an event organized by the National Civil Status and Identification Office (ONECI) in Ivory Coast. This celebration, held at the Espace Latrille Events in Abidjan, revolved around the theme “Celebrating the Right to Be Visible,” a powerful call for accessible and secure legal identity for every citizen.

Presided over by General Vagondo Diomandé, Minister of the Interior and Security, and featuring ambassadors from ID4Africa, including Mr. Ago Christian Kodia, Director General of ONECI, the event brought together over 600 participants, representing governments, international organizations, and the private sector. Enriched by a keynote address and several thematic panels, discussions focused on crucial topics such as the modernization of civil registration, financial inclusion, and data protection.

For Semlex Ivory Coast, present at the event with a dedicated stand, this day was a valuable opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to digital inclusion and universal access to secure legal identity. Through our services, we continue to strive for robust and innovative identification solutions, contributing to digital infrastructure and social integration across Africa.

The Ivorian authorities’ support for the initiative to establish September 16 as National Identity Day in Ivory Coast marks a significant milestone in this vision of inclusion. This commitment is essential to promoting every citizen’s right to be visible—a right that Semlex Ivory Coast, alongside ONECI and ID4Africa, is proud to support and celebrate daily.
