Expansion of Identification Centers

19 September 2024

Semlex Guinea-Bissau is pleased to announce the inauguration of new enrollment centers in Farim and Bissorã, marking a significant step in expanding our regional coverage.

These centers complement the existing network of identification services in the country, thereby strengthening our commitment to providing extensive and accessible coverage for the entire Guinean population.

This expansion represents an important milestone in our public-private partnership with the Ministry of Justice of Guinea-Bissau, established in 2006, for the provision of secure ECOWAS identity cards that comply with international ICAO standards. With these new centers, we aim to further enhance the availability and quality of biometric enrollment services in the northern region of the country.

The centers in Farim and Bissorã add to the existing center in Mansoa, also located in the Oio region, thereby offering increased coverage for the citizens of this area. Residents of Farim and Bissorã will now be able to obtain their national identity cards (CNI) more easily, reducing travel time and wait times. This development reflects our ongoing commitment to improving access to identification services.

The establishment of these centers is part of a continuous effort to modernize our infrastructures and processes. We employ state-of-the-art technologies to ensure high-quality biometric enrollments and the issuance of secure identity documents. The unique identity number assigned to each citizen, managed by the Ministry of Justice under the direction of Mr. Helder Romano Vieira, follows individuals throughout their lives and facilitates their administrative procedures.

The opening of these centers was coordinated in collaboration with local authorities, including Mr. Caramo Baió, Head of the Ministry of Justice’s production center, and Mr. Braima Camará, Governor of the Oio region. On behalf of Semlex Guinea-Bissau, Mr. Zefrino Cardoso, Operations Manager, oversaw the establishment of the centers.

We are proud of this new achievement and of our contribution to the modernization of identification services in Guinea-Bissau. These new centers in Farim and Bissorã are the result of our commitment to providing local services and supporting the country’s administrative development.
